We are the biggest children's organisation within the town of Auchterarder and one of the biggest in Perthshire. Our club started with 25 gymnasts in 1987 and we now have over 300 children and young adults attending classes throughout the week.
We provide a facility for gymnasts to train to national level and have had several girls and boys selected to represent Scotland.
All gymnasts have the opportunity to progress through the Scottish and British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Scheme with the Badges and Certificates presented in June each year. All gymnasts are eligible for our Annual Club Awards and Championships. All club gymnasts have the opportunity to participate in school, local, regional and national competitions depending on age and ability. All gymnasts participate in our Club Display usually held in Bells Sports Centre every 2 years. Our display team performs at the Scottish Gym Festivals in Irvine, Perth and Scottish Schools each year. Many of our older gymnasts help coach the younger gymnasts and take their coaching and judging qualifications. Girls often do not continue in sport in their teenage years, Auchterarder Gymnastics Club has a good record of keeping gymnasts until they leave school or go on to university. |
